It is used in the manufacture of cement and furnace linings, and serves as a binding material in the construction industry. By providing a Ca²⁺-rich, alkaline activation environment, it promotes the formation of calcium silicate hydrate (C-S-H) and improves both workability and early-stage strength; it is widely used in ready-mixed dry-mix mortars, high-whiteness plasters, and finishing mortars.
It is used as a flux in the metallurgical industry to lower the melting temperature of ore, facilitate the separation of impurities, and enhance the efficiency and purity of metal smelting; it also serves in the desulfurization of molten iron and slag conditioning.
